DC Powered fan thoughts?

Looking for 2 (upper and lower) small cooling fans that can plug into 12v plugs.
Don't want to cut any holes in top, just some cooling during summer hot nights.

You can get some cheap fans at Walmart. I just replaced my broken SMB fan with a $10 fan from Walmart and it works great. Not quite as durable as the SMB fan, but at the price I can buy several replacements and it still will be cheaper than the SMB fan.

On the recommendation of Charlie56, I replaced our stock SMB fan with one of these:

If the link doesn't work for you, go to West Marine (www.westmarine.com) and search for fans...it is the Caframo for $5.29 each (I think I paid more like $20 for ours). It puts out a good breeze, pulls little amps, and doesn't need a shield over the fan blade...they are flexible and won't hurt if you accidentally hit them.

Thanks for the link to the fan. They look perfect for the SMB, assuming you have a place to put it. Unfortunately that $5.29 price is for the replacement blades. The fans themselves are listed at $49.99.

Plan B: You shop around and find a 100watt 12vdc to 120vac inverter in the $15-$25 price range. We bought some cheap 120v 3 watt fans at Home Depot two years ago and plug them into or van AC. The small inverter can also be used for other stuff like charging cell phones, camera batteries, running lap tops, etc.

How about a 12V computer fan? They're small, inexpensive, and available in many sizes. You could hang the fan in front of a window or anywhere else you want.

Jameco Electronics (http://www.jameco.com) sells them ... search for "fan" on their website. Jameco also sells "cigarette lighter" plugs that you could attach to a fan.

We have two 12 v fans we carry... one small box fan (Fantastic Fan)... and one small oscillating fan.

We got the fantastic fan from a local RV dealership. We hang it from a front J hook and point it back into the PHT area. It works great.

The small oscillating fan is our second. We bought a cheapo first but it broke pretty quickly. We went with another with a little better quality and it does yeoman's work.

How noisy is the Westmarine fan? My sportsmobile fan is so noisy it's practically useless.

in thinking through, I want to find one that can "clip on."

If any thoughts on one that clips, lighter plug, that is it!

Both our Oscillating fans were clip on fans..... very convenient...
