Dome lights: integration with aftermarket alarm/keyless?

Hi all,

I'm shopping for an alarm system(keyless entry, etc) for my 2000 Chateau passenger van and I'm wondering if there is a system allow me to turn on the interior lights with the remote fob (like most newer vehicles do). I've read through the posts regarding installing a switch that will turn the interior lights off when the doors are open, but I would like to do the opposite.

One shop here in town said it's impossible, but I'd wager they're un-informed. The dimmer switch on the dash can turn them on, so it seems like it would be possible to actuate remotely....
Anyone have any info or insight?

Love the van! Wheels/tires went on today, Bilstiens next week!

Re: Dome lights: integration with aftermarket alarm/keyless?

Just need to add a relay, as long the aftermarket alarm has an extra output (most do) and that output can be configured for Constant or Timed ON (some outputs are only momentary). You can connect to the dome lights at the headlight switch, or in the B-pillar.

My remote start came with two outputs, one for a trunk, and the other is condigurable. I even had the option to add the "window" module to roll the windows up and down with the remote, or crack them anytime the van is remote started.

Thanks caringb! That's what I figured might be the case, but the guy at the car electronics shop was trying to convince me that it was impossible.

What system do you have in your van?
