My Van is a 1998 Chevy Express Van 2500 and I have a stupid question... or maybe a problem...
what does the "Dome Override Switch" do? it seems to do nothing in my Van...
I have door switched lights and manual lights that can be turned on when under power and driving... The override switch seems to override nothing at all...
Some advice from ye Chevy owners (or other in the know ) would be welcome

Aha! Victory, I seem to have got it working again, as I have the dash apart since I fitted the GPS and ScanGauge II I took the Headlight - Dimer - Dome Override unit and gave a dowsing in WD40 and switched madly till it worked...
I guess this switch is to avoid draining the battery when chillin' with the door open Thanx adventureduo for your reply, it helped me understand and fix the problem

Another job of the override switch is to disable the day time running lights. If you press and release the switch twice, you will the hear a "chime". At that point, the DRL should be OFF. Double press and release again to turn them ON......

Sorry to be a bit daft on this one, but what do you mean by Daytime Running Lights? You mean the small marker/side light when on position 1 of the headlight switch?
Here in Europe as the rules are slightly different they fiddle US cars at import so the comply... I had my amber marker light bulbs removed (off course fitted them back as the van looked bizarre without...
So if your DRL are the ones I think switching them on will mean they are on all the time? What about the rear lights?

DRLs are Daytime Running Lights, but they are a low power, white light from the headlights. Different than either the high or low beams, and they do not cause the tail lights, side marker lights, or dashboard indicator lamps to light.
Intended for safer daytime driving.

Ah it is actually a second bulb or filament in the main headlight...
Tried the 2x in - out but to no avail... maybe the Chevy is too old for this or different from the Fords... Mine is a year model 1998...
