Electric Fan versus Clutch Fan

Hello,

Has anyone removed thier engine clutch fan and replaced with Electric Engine Cooling Fans?

Is there any advantages or disadvantages, please?

Did some the later models have Electric Fans?

Are thier kits available for an 08 E350 6.0 V8 Diesel Econoline Van?

Clutch fan is very noisy and severely effects fuel consumption. All modern vehicles have quiter electric fans.

I'm in Australia, there may not be any other Econoline vehicle here at all.

Hoping for your comments, Cheers, Doug.

You can add an electric fan, but there’s nothing that’ll fit that can move near enough air volume to replace replace the engine driven fan.

Starting with 2008 vans, Ford did offer an optional “Gulf States” kit which was basically a supplemental electric cooling fan, but it only was offered for the V10. I suspect it should still fit the diesel, but I don’t know if you can buy the kit retail.

Have you already done the True Cool max transmission cooler? This helps engine coolant temps too.

I know that some folks have successfully swapped in the cooling fans from the Ford Taurus, but I don’t think they really sold those over there? Look a like the Ford Mondeo fan assembly would be a good candidate too. They both have staggered fan and a shroud for a square opening.
