Connect the house battery to the battery under the hood and use a battery separator. First choice would be a blue sea 7610 or 7622 for more features at a higher price point. Surepower also make separators that work well.

There are a couple of common ways to do this that come to mind...
A transfer switch is a common way to do this.......these are built into Inverter/charger combo units; if you are planning on installing an inverter and want shore power consider an inverter/charger.
..or for a little less $$ you can install a charger/converter....Intellipower is a popular brand, if you go this way you want the optional charge wizard gismo that turns the dumb charger into a smart charger (I find the whole thing dumb.....they should just have the smart charging circuitry built into the charger/converters.)

See above..you can, but that's a bit ghetto and those chargers are usually dumb. A smart charger/converter provides much better care and feeding for your house battery.
