Exterior AC Outlet?

Has anyone found a nice weatherproof exterior AC outlet?

I have the two holes in the side of my van from an old Suburban Propane furnace that I would like to convert to an exterior outlet.

Thanks,
Taylor

Re: Exterior AC Outlet?

You should be able to get one at any RV supplier. Check CampingWorld's website. Make sure to have a GFI outlet out there, though.

SMB might sell you one, too.

Re: Exterior AC Outlet?

I have one of these and I like it:

http://www.marinco.com/product/30-amp-1 ... less-steel

Edit: I actually have two of these, one mounted on top of the other. One is for 110v AC outlet and the other is for 100v 30 Amp Shorepower inlet.

Re: Exterior AC Outlet?

I guess I should ask for clarification: are you looking for an external "outlet" to allow you to plug in regular 110v/15 amp plugs for appliances and whatnot, or do you want an inlet for 20, 30 or 50 amp shore power?

It's the same housing, just the inside is different and that is swapable. Check Marinco.

Re: Exterior AC Outlet?

Do you think this could be used to install an exterior 12V plug as well?

Re: Exterior AC Outlet?

Take a while to look through the Marinco website. I bought some 12v plugs and recepticals that are not cigarette lighters because I think we are well past using the cigarette lighter plug and receptacle as a power connection. They had an interior fixture and a weather proof fixture both.

But I haven't installed them yet and I don't have the van or the electrical projects kit at this location.

So, again take a look through the Marinco website.

And maybe CarringB or Chance or some other electrical wizard will chime in here.

Re: Exterior AC Outlet?

Here's what SMB installed on our van: a GFI outlet with an RV waterproof cover, like this: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/it ... tlet/49739
