Extreme Air Compressor update...

As mentioned in another thread my air compressor blew a hose at the end of DRV 2013 while airing up the last time. Thanks to GooseBerry for having onboard air for the last tire. A little online research and a call to ExtremeAire (George Carousos) identified a few components were not installed correctly. I was very impressed with the time Extreme Air spent with us on the phone to get us the right parts etc. Rare these days. The van came with the compressor so I never really inspected it closely.

The wrong tubing was used coming off the head which lead to the blowout within an inch of the head. There is supposed to be 30" or so of high temp high pressure hose coming off the head to dissipate the heat. I had just high pressure.

We also increased the cable diameter to 6 gauge instead of what looked like speaker wire and ran it all the way to the ignition battery instead of the house batteries in the back.

Installed a new air filter and now that compressor really cranks it out.

Hopefully this will help avoid the misses looking out the window and asking what the holdup is while I am airing up the tires....

Re: Extreme Air Compressor update...

Sounds like you made the right changes, just be careful about only running the compressor while your vehicle engine is running.

Too small wiring and a lack of high temp hose (I use a high temp hose with a braided steel jacket), are inexcusable. The initial decision to wire to the house battery is debatable, but I think you made the right decision to change that.
