Has anyone installed a factory overhead console (temp and compass) in their van?
I'm in the process of installing one I grabbed at the junkyard out of a 2002 F150 in my 2002 E250. After the custom cutting of the plastic to fit my very simple flat 1/8" plywood headliner (class B conversion cab) I've run into a few pleasant surprises.
First the holes that the mounting bracket behind the headliner attached to the F-150 lined up perfectly with some holes in the cab behind the windshield. I didn't know this at the time until I cut through my headliner and happened to be right on.
Then, the thermocouple bracket tucked nicely behind the grill with a set of existing holes in an oddly perfect sized cutout in the plastic.
So with my two strokes of luck I got thinking, is there existing wiring buried there somewhere that I haven't been able to find? I have a 6 wire lead coming from the overhead console (Switched 12V, ground, VSS, Illumination, Sensor 1, Sensor 2) and I've figured out what colours I need to tap but before I go splicing I thought I'd ask if anyone knows if this connection exists somewhere.
I unfortunately don't have a wiring diagram to reference and the ones I've been able to find online are rather incomplete.
