Re: Fantastic Fan questions

Mine operates fine.

The only issues I have are an intermittent leak that the PO tried to have fixed, which is really an install/ph issue I think, and that it makes it hard to install solar panels, as you can't block the openening of the lid. Just something to think about.

Re: Fantastic Fan questions

Well if nothing else, Fantastic Fan customer service has been wonderful. I've called them twice to ask some questions and they've been very helpful. Lots and lots of options too; different colored covers, insulated covers, dome topped covers, flat topped covers,....

Re: Fantastic Fan questions

Bbasso,

You must have rear A/C and the window van headlinger with the vents in the roof. I installed my vent in the metal roof and my van has rear A/C but it does not have that headliner. My rear A/C duct just ends near the evaporator box and has a vent on the top. On your van since the air just flows through the headliner I think you could install the vent but you might have to drop the headliner and make some kind of ducting around the vent. When Sportsmobile installs raised roofs (any kind) on vans with those headliners they install vents for the rear A/C in the left rear corner, you could also do something like that...

Re: Fantastic Fan questions

Jamie, you nailed it.
I'll have to pull down the headliner and most likely reroute new ducting for the factory vents around the 14x14 hole/vent.

Any suggestions on where to put the vent? rear, mid or front?

Fantastic Fan questions

My vote is mid to front, right over the second row area, whether there are seats there or not. This way you can put it on exhaust and pull a nice breeze in through the front/side windows. It also leaves room for a rack/box towards the back if ever needed.

Re: Fantastic Fan questions

I put mine over my bed, part of why I don't like it? I like the fan blowing on me sometimes but not always. I think the middle might be the best place, especially since you have the roof A/C vents. You could block off the ones in the front much easier than in the the rear.

Could you make it reversible, so that it's not blowing on you, but still circulating the air right around you? Kind of like a bedroom ceiling fan in reverse rotation.

Re: Fantastic Fan questions

Mine is reversible but because it is over the bed if its on intake which feels nice blowing on you when you first lay down, but it can get cool/cold as the outside temp drops. If it is on exhaust you cant really feel the cool air as much. The other reason for not liking over the bed is it lets in way too much light weather the lid is opened or closed plus the fan blades act like a mirrored ball/disco light when the sun hits it sometimes.
