Re: FIRE!

Crap, what an incident. When stuff does that it freaks you out. Even when cars with smelly brakes go by I perk up. Glad you're OK. Any pics?

Re: FIRE!

Glad you're both okay and the damage, while a pain, is not irreparable.

Good reminder for me to get familiar with my fire extinguisher's lever system again.

And another reason to keep those smoke detectors operational and tested, not to mention the CO and propane detectors replaced on a regular basis. Yeah, they aren't the most glamorous or interesting aspects of SMB ownership, but ignoring them could cost us our lives.

Re: FIRE!

Would it make sense to install a disconnect switch right after the main batteries? The SMB wiring seems to have enough fused connections, I never considered Ford's wiring as a potential issue. 50 miles of washboard could cause issues. Something like this?

Re: FIRE!

I've always thought having a catastrophic fuse with an amp rating of the complete wired in system might be wise. That way, if something shorted to ground, the batteries wouldn't explode. One might have to have their van towed, but better that than a carbecue.
