Fuel Pump Kill Switch Guidance

Does anybody have experience or guidance with installing a kill switch for the fuel pump relay? We just had a u-haul full of our belongings (e-series chassis) stolen a week ago in Seattle, which confirmed what i always suspected... These vans are super easy to steal.

I know there are many spendier options (Ravelco), but I believe a hidden (yes, i know, a thief can always find it) kill switch in the cab for the fuel pump would do a lot to prevent the easy smash and grab of the van. I am also aware the you could just pull the fuse, but I'd rather have a switch in the cab that can be flipped off routinely when leaving the van.

I've searched the forum and YouTube and haven't found any DIY guides (although I'm sure they exist). Any input/links are greatly appreciated.

The inertia switch is behind the kick panel in front of the passenger door. This is the easiest place to tap in IMO. Simply cut one of the wires (either) and add switch in series. Locate it somewhere not too obvious, or somewhere conspicuous but with a misleading label, which IMO might be better. Any well versed thief will already look for an alarm over-ride switches under the dash, but they might give up before trying every switch in the van.

Wow, very sorry to hear of your loss. We have the Ravelco installed on our rig.

I believe boywonder may have the information you are seeking. It would help if you share which engine you have in your van.

I was just discussing kill switches with a very respected Land Cruiser guy in Sonoma. CA a few weeks ago. He said they put kill switches in virtually all their restorations/up fittings.

The important take away from the conversation was how dismayed he is when people post publicly what was done and where the kill switch is located in their vehicle. The cool part of what he said they do is to use a factory installed switch/ or switches to create the no start scenario.

My recommendation is do this via PM and be prudent who gets to see/know the information. It is very easy to search "kill switch econoline forum" and read in-depth what people did complete with pictures/images. Good luck!

Awesome - thanks everybody! Pretty sure I've got it figured out now, thanks to the forum. Hopefully i can get it wired in within the next week or so.

nyyankees -- what brand/source - kill switch did you find to accomplish your goal ? I do not need to know where you will locate the switch ! I' interested in doing the same --

I've yet to start/finish this project. But i just plan on using a toggle switch, 12v, rated at 10amps. They're pretty easy to find online or at a marine/boat store.
