Generator access and removal

I am the new owner of a 1990 f 350 sportsmobile. The previous owner did not have the generator running for 1 year and it won't start. Tries to turn over but just won't run. Any advice on the best way to access ? I have taken off the bench seat and can see the metal box surrounding the unit but I can't tell how the container comes apart?
Thanks

Re: Generator access and removal

I don't know about your van, but most SMB installed generators come down for service. Either a screw mechanism or you may need a jack to lower it.

Also unless you've checked, you might just want to see if there is a fuel valve turned off before you go through the trouble of dropping it.
