reccomendations for street legal in California auxillary lights

Re: Headlights again

I was also a bit underwhelmed by the stock headlights on my E-350 and after 4 years put in a pair of these:

Headlight opinions are like motor oil opinions.....quite diverse and a confusing mixture of opinion and fact. These Phillips bulbs had a large number of supporters.

So far, they are a noticeable improvement, but much more so on the normal setting. I'm not wild about the high beam setting. I'm not getting flashed by oncoming traffic so the level adjustment and brightness are OK.

Why not just try new bulbs first and then see how you like outcome? Sure a LOT cheaper than everything listed above and much easier too.

Re: Headlights again

good idea, however i am striving to get max light

obvious my lenses are yellowed

also, a 1/2 day project is cool
except time is the one thing that
i am in very short supply of

taking the rig in for maintance
and will have it all installed
not being frivolus w/ $$$
just the time it would take me to do it
i would rather work, make $$, and the down time
go camping instead of working on rig

my two satang

Re: Headlights again

Silverstar bulbs in the stock lens is a good upgrade.

Dual-mode HIDs in the clear Euro lens is the best. That's what I have now. I also have a pair of driving lights in the bumper, and 2 pairs of long-range lights, which are switched with my highbeams (in addition to the dash rocker switch). When the long range lights come on, the driving lights shut off, to save amps since they don't add anything when the long range lights are on.

The HIDs combined with the long range lights give me about a quarter miles of excellent visibility. But, the long range lights would not be legal in CA.

And a pair of foglights.

The driving lights have a blue lens so the light color matches the HIDs (but mostly because they fit well... most 4" lights don't mount up in the Buckstop as nicely).

Sorry CarringB, but in Ca that just screams "pull me over". Looks cool though.
