Re: Honda 2000 generator solution?

Depending on your load and size of your battery bank they do make small 12 heaters and 12 blankets
12 vDC stuff

Re: Honda 2000 generator solution?

I have them 6 volt Energizer GC2s from Sams club , i believe there 220 amp hours when running both in series to get the 12 volts .
That Propex looks like it would be a pretty simple install but i could'nt figure out what the 2 aluminum hoses that run out the bottom are for ?

Re: Honda 2000 generator solution?

Probably intake/exhaust same as the espar stuff. Mr Heater makes an unvented wall mount but those kind of scare me and the water vapor might pose a problem. Best to stay with a good marine/RV heater to be safe.

Looks like that Propex would be a really simple install .
Most important make sure the propane tank is mounted solid and in a safe place and make sure the propane lines that run from the tank to the heater have solid connections and covered and mounted securely so they stay that way .
Thanks guys , what a load of valuble info!
I cant get the picture right side up , you'll have to download it and straighten it up if you want to see it.

if our Bro has a sealed tight rig
lights the candle on a electric heater w/ no venting

Re: Honda 2000 generator solution?

Superdog: (and anyone else using a Propex): A suggestion. I suspect the reason SMB isn't wanting to install any more of these great little heaters is because they failed to make an easy modification I made to mine. The problem is these go in small spaces and occasionally a reset button has to be pushed to get the heater to light. I suspect also that the reason for this is that when you refill with propane ( or for other reasons ?) the touchy gas pressure setting varies a little. The difficulty is that in order to get to the reset button those two small top screws you see in your last picure have to be removed and the access plate removed. On mine SMB was able to get it in a small space but a screwed in shelf has to be removed to get to the plate screws. This is a real pain. Solution: From the side of the heater (not the top of the removable plate showing in the last picture) drill a one inch hole in the plate so you can simply stick your finger in there and push the reset button. My hardware store had a easy to remove plug to cover the hole. Best, RD

Re: Honda 2000 generator solution?

I cannot- but just remove the plate once and you will easily see where to drill the hole. The reset button is red.(On the plate ( and not on the "screw side") and large because you would miss the reset button with only a pencil. Just hold the plate tight on a board and drill the hole with a 1" WOOD drill bit using straight down pressure. You will dull the wood bit but it's cheaper than buying a 1" steel drill bit. Yes- I'm talking about a common FLAT 1" wood bit. No pilot hole, just pressure. The hole will be perfect. I took a rat tail file and smoothed it a little and the nylon cover plug went right on. RD PS: In addition: The reset button may have to be pushed if the air exit vent is blocked when heater the runs. This causes overheating and the unit will shut off.
