HOW TO MOUNT A TABLET with KEYBOARD THAT IS USED AS A GPS ?
A RAM mount may be the answer but which one and will it work? I want to be able to swivel the passenger seat. I do not want a floor mount.
I went here:
http://www.ram-mount.com/Products/Table ... ult.aspx#/
I put in ASUS, Transformer, and vehicle mounts. Then I looked at the items for each mount location and do not know what will work.
Has any one used the dash mounts? Any other ideas? I have read all the posts but did not find anything that would work for me unless I missed it.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the picture. My problem is that I will have the keyboard attached. As I see it, I need to find out which mount will fit into the cup holders. My doghouse top looks like yours.

Keyboard on a separate mount?
RAM has tons of options but is such low quality now I wouldn't waste my money (again). I wound up building my own solution.

Jage,
The keyboard attaches to the ASUS transformer and makes it like a laptop.

Re: HOW TO MOUNT A TABLET with KEYBOARD THAT IS USED AS A GP
I have a little Asus tablet (though I use it as a notebook - with keyboard always exposed) mounted in my van for use with my GPS and various maps.
I rigged up my own custom computer holder, and attached it to the van's doghouse with a PanaVise security camera ceiling mount.

It is not in the cup holders, it is bolted on the flat part between them with a 2 hole diamond shape

geofff,
Thanks for your picture. I went to your website. It is great. Of course, I then had to read everything. A lot of good information.
Looks like I need to find something that bolts to the doghouse to hold my ASUS. I visioned something in a L shape to hold the keyboard and computer. I may have to make something and buy a mount I can attach my L shape holder, then bolt it to the doghouse.

My original computer mount a decade ago was L-shaped, but I now find that I prefer how the computer takes up less space when I have the keyboard vertically mounted instead of flat. Of course, it's much more difficult to type in this configuration -- but realistically I'm not doing much typing. Most of the time I'm tapping zoom in/out keys or using the touchscreen.
I made my custom computer holder by folding thin sheet metal and cutting it with snips. Then I lined it with black cloth, glued in place.

Also, if it's like a laptop but won't support the monitor/pad on the keyboard with a keyboard support mount, like a laptop, then why not just buy a laptop? If the keyboard can support the monitor, then why not just mount it like any laptop? If it's a touchscreen why do you even need the keyboard mounted?
I just don't see doing extreme custom mounts for a relatively inexpensive piece of hardware (a GPS or whatever you're using it for)
