In '08 (I think) Ford switched to a steel hood. Either that or they found a way to magnetize fiberglass.
Open the hood and make sure you're not placing the magnet on the fiberglass that's directly over one of the metal support structures.

OK
Just for Herb I did this.
Its all Steel, the hood is sheet metal as well as the reinforcement.
