We have a 2005 Dodge Sprinter SMB buildout with a Norcold DE-0041TR fridge. The fridge is supposed to have 12V and 110V capability, but will only run when the inverter is on even when the van engine is running. Is this normal, or is there something amiss? We just had solar panels and new batteries installed and I am wondering if an isolator switch was not hooked up correctly???
If it is supposed to run on 12v then the inverter shouldn’t be necessary. Did it work before the new batteries and solar? 12v connected to the Norcold?

Those fridges have a dual power supply - one circuit to bring 120VAC down to about 18VDC, and one circuit to bring 12VDC or 24VDC to 18VDC. If the DC/DC converter circuit has failed but the AC/DC circuit is still working that would explain that. Like others have said: check the 12VDC into the power supply, and if that's good, the power supply may have failed.
