Jukebox stereo won't load CD's

Hiya,

I've been goofing around with my van stereo and noticed it has the capability to load songs to the "jukebox" from CD's. I have a lot of dusty old CD's that have been erased from their record label files and thought it would be cool to copy them. However, when I try to load a CD, it won't let me. It makes sounds, but CD's won't go in. There is not a disc in there already, I checked. Anyone have/had issues like this? I know I could load them on my phone, but this seems fun. It's a 2014 van. Thanks!

If this is a factory stereo unit I'd guess its failed causing your problems. Has it worked in the past?

Sadly factory auto entertainment units tend to be the cheapest made and all too often just don't hold up well over time.

My garage is a graveyard of old broken auto and home electronics. I have at least 3 CD players whose inject/eject mechanisms have failed because a plastic piece or tab has broken off. I need to just take them all to Best Buy for recycling but keep thinking they’re perfectly good units except for that small broken piece.

It’s not uncommon for the cost to repair electronics to exceed the cost to replace them. If you want to keep it original, you can check with Dealer or aftermarket OEM sources for new or reman units. Or you can get online with Crutchfield and look to see what Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, Sony, etc have to offer. It might cost you a little more than a factory reman unit but they'll come with lots of updated features like Apple CarPlay, GPS,WiFi capability, backup camera capability, etc and they’ll sound a lot better.
