Just finished my solar install.

Added 180 watts of Zamp panels and a matching controller.
I was holding off, as I've been spending all the "van money" elsewhere, but had a revelation and decided to act on it.
I've been sitting on a Zamp suitcase style portable panel set up for a while and not really using it, as it's huge and a pain in the ass to carry.
Got to looking at it and decided that with a little effort I can build a frame and turn those suitcase panels into a roof mount.
Fast forward, and a bit of 6061 aluminum pieces, stainless hardware and a sealed roof pass through and I have 180 watts on the roof.

I held off installing solar for about 10 years. Now I put it on all my camping rigs.
If nothing else, it's a decent battery maintainer for your house batteries when the van is parked.

I stored my vanagon inside when not in use, so I had to disconnect the house battery when in storage. The solar charge controller would eventually drain the battery due to it's always on screen.

I was legit happy and surprised with my 200W of Renogy panels and Renogy 50A DC-DC charger this weekend.
-Wisconsin
-70% cloudy
-partial tree cover

Still caught enough watts to keep my battery at a zero loss state during the day. Kept up with my ARB fridge (granted, not running much) and diesel heater.
