LED FLORESCENT REPLACEMENT BULBS

I replaced the florescent tubes in my overhead lights with LED tubes. http://rvspecialthings.com/LEDlights.html I bought them in Quartzite. They took the ballast out of each light for me so the LED tubes would work. Then I had a switch added so I can have one tube on or have both tubes on at once. They are nice and bright.

Replacing the florescent lights in the SMB is high on my list, but higher on my list now is getting the hell out of town and down to the desert!

Re: LED FLORESCENT REPLACEMENT BULBS

That's really awesome... I've got something like this in the queue!

It looks like there are two types, the bulb and the strip. The bulb has fluorescent bulb ends and fits right in the fixture, however you're still powering the ballast and the fixture (although it's easier).

The strip looks like it just has loose wire ends and would be attached to the power source or a switch. Just a guess from the photos, but if you directly wired it you could avoid the fixture sucking up power.

Re: LED FLORESCENT REPLACEMENT BULBS

Jage,

I took the ballast out because otherwise the LED bulbs would not work in the fixture.

Re: LED FLORESCENT REPLACEMENT BULBS

Well that makes sense. So you have to rewire the ends that hold the bulb?

Makes my project kind of moot!

Re: LED FLORESCENT REPLACEMENT BULBS

Those look great Angel, do you know what they pull in amps? I couldn't find any stats on them.

Re: LED FLORESCENT REPLACEMENT BULBS

Dave,

I called Len @ RV Special Things. He said one 15" bulb that fits into the 18" fixture draws 300 mili amps (.3 amps)
