Re: LED reading ights for penthouse
Do you have a URL? Hard to give advice; LEDs vary a lot in quality in my experience. They are very directional unless there's some kind of reflector built in, so take that into account. There are bazillions of LED lamps out there and I'm sure you could find some that'll work.
Some other suggestions: the strip LEDs for cabinets and such that they sell at Ikea and other places can make a good replacement for fluorescents. Some are battery powered; I've found that given the long life of LEDs and the ease of installation without wires these often work better than the ones you have to wire into 12v. BTW, Ikea makes a dandy LED lamp that kicks that's solar, and the solar module pops out so you can charge it separately from the lamp. And a portion of the price goes to charity.
Another tip is to install some red LEDs. I use these all the time since they don't blow out your night vision. If you actually spend time outside at night they're very helpful when you have to get something in the van (another beer perhaps) and then hop right outside again.
