LED strip lighting

I'm thinking about adding some LED strip lighting to the interior of my van, and I'm curious what other people have used that's worked for them. I did try a forum search, but "LED" is too short for a search term, so it didn't help much.

I recently bought a roll of them from superbrightleds.com. They are the cut to length style and seem to be pretty good. They have several different versions and are cheap enough to try. I've only powered them up though and have yet to actually install them.

Two things to consider if if you want dimmable strips, and if you want just white or if you want multi-color.

I been using the supernight led strips for years, they are cheap and last for years, never had to replace one. They are dimmable and don't use that much power for the light they put out.

I prefer the warm white light, which is in the yellowish more natural tint, but isn't harsh like the brighter cool white leds which is in the bluish tint.

What kind of controller are you using to dim them?

Been using Superbright LEDs for years also. I have found the lights to very bright and long lasting, the controllers not so much. I would recommend keeping your lighting simple, just an on/off switch and spend more time on which temp would work best for you.

Typically 3000K is warmer and more pleasant than the 4000K lights.

They're all over Amazon/Ebay and about everywhere else these days. I say go for it. I have used many of them for many reasons.

One recommendation I would make is to get the 'waterproof' style, not that you need waterproof indoors but the individual LEDs are set in clear soft plastic/silicone type stuff and this makes them much more durable and less prone to damage. Look closely at the pics of them wherever they are sold and you'll see what I mean.

I wanted a light source that would illuminate the entire inside of my van, without having parts of it in shadow. So I decided to try a light strip; fastened it all around the ceiling of the van so I had light from every side. Very happy with the results and the cost was negligible. Mine came with a dimmer although I rarely use it; I added an on-off switch up above the barn doors so if I needed the light when I open the doors I just have to hit the switch.

If you want to install a dimmer, I've had good luck with the EZ Dimmer sold by superbrightleds. I installed two dimmers, but only one is currently in use for the LED puck-style lights in the pop top ceiling. The plan is to add strip lighting for the lower section eventually.

We paired the dimmer with this remote which we keep docked just above the barn doors, and added this remote button which we typically keep up top in the pop top so we can turn the lights off and on without getting out of bed. Both remotes are magnetic, so they're easy to store and move around as needed.

Of note, you'll find a 4ch version of this dimmer on superbrightleds' site as well. Just so there's no confusion, this is used to control 4 outputs at once, not 4 outputs independently.
