Local or Internet to buy batteries from?

As most of you have seen I am in the process of shopping for batteries, most of the batteries I see through research online are only available online.
So the the question for the guys who have big batteries how did you buy them?
And of course how do you know which place on the Internet to buy from?

It almost feels silly to ask such a trivial question, but when spending 500 or more dollars on a pair of batteries it can be a little overwhelming. And then some places want to charge nearly half of that for shipping...
I honestly can't afford to lose money in a bad transaction or spend extra because I'm not knowledgeable enough to avoid these hi shipping quotes.

Not sure what size batts you are looking for but I bought mine from here:

Wholesale Batteries Direct

They arrived quickly and undamaged and so far the batteries have been great!

I think RallyPanAm bought his from there too and had a pretty good customer service experience due to a bad battery, but I will let him chime in if he sees this.

I sent them the ones above on Saturday afternoon, and they just got back to me saying (as we all can see) that the battery is dead and they have approved a warranty claim and a new one will be shipped to me.

So assuming that goes through smoothly, kudos to them for honoring their one year warranty.

The carrier explained they tried to call me (they didn't) and now there were storage charges since the battery was sitting there for weeks. I told them to call the Wholesale Batteries Direct.

They did, called me back 20 minutes later, storage charges were gone, and they could deliver today. Showed up, I immediately checked voltage on the battery that's been sitting in a box for close to a month, 12.95V. Hooray!

So definitely recommend buying batteries from these guys. Warrantied my five month old dead battery with no hassles or problems.. and now I've got a brand new one to go in this weekend.

Re: Local or Internet to buy batteries from?

Thank you for the recommendation!

Now after looking on their site, I found a battery(size) that I didn't know existed .
And can afford, weight, size but it appears to be a house brand... is that a good thing or bad?

Would fit my needs just right...

Re: Local or Internet to buy batteries from?

I'm not a fan of Universal Battery but it's what SMB uses these days and I'm not hearing of too many issues yet. An 8-D (which most manufactures make) only supplies a few more amp hours than a 4-D...in other words an 8-D isn't the same as banking two 4-D's. But it might be enough to take you over the hump if a single 4-D is a little light and two 4-D's are an overkill.

Re: Local or Internet to buy batteries from?

I have bought both my house and start batteries from http://www.powerstridebattery.com

They have free shipping (via Fedex) so the price you see is it. I got them very quickly. Lifeline AGM for house bank, and Odyssey Group 65 AGM for start.

A friend also bought a number of batteries from them and also found them to be great to deal with.

(Edited as I remembered brand of start battery.)

http://www.amazon.com/Vmaxtanks-Vmaxslr ... =Vmaxtanks

I know its probably not the best, but from what I understand I think it's worth the risk. Amazon somewhat safe...

Unless there is serious objection to them I'll be ordering them this weekend.

No experience with them, but maybe give them a call.
If they don't sell retail, they'll tell you someone that does.

That's a Universal brand.. I'm happy enough with mine (the second one, after the first crapped out).. but Lifeline is better... and more expensive.
