All the vans in that series have plastic hoods. And it is a little hard to tell without checking closely. Most van owners I've talked to didn't know it and were surprised to learn about the plastic hood.

I believe it is SMC (Sheet Molded Composite) but I'm not sure.

PCI Race Radios sells a Baja map for Lowrance that a couple off roaders tell me is the bee's knees. I'm ordering mine tomorrow!

Who took that video of my beach printer??? Probably my buddy in the Hawaiian shirt....

Baja maps for the Lowrance? For the Lowrance??? Where do I get 'em????? Kinda cruel to tell me about this right before I head south so there isn't time for me to get a copy?? Bad things (like warm beer) happen to mean people.

www.pciraceradios.com If you want to order one on their SD card and have it sent to me, I can deliver it down there. Or, I could just order two when I order mine. Many options. Get this, there's another one but the off road guys like the customer service with pci a little better.

Here's the page that I was able to find with the map info.
http://www.pciraceradios.com/ProductDet ... 5300653569

They call it Baja Topo Software, but it seems more like regular map info rather than topographic info. Any idea on the detail/info in the more remote areas?

I'm going to call them today and see what's what. Also, sd cards are new to me. I would suspect with a reader I could burn onto a CD for back up and I could load onto a new sd card should I ever loose the orig?

Depending on the available memory of the GPS itself, you may be able to copy the info from the SD card onto the device, and then remove the device for safekeeping. If the GPS unit doesn't have the memory capacity along with the ability to copy the data, the card will have to remain in the unit.

I have an SD card reader that plugs into a USB port on my computer. I use it to transfer pictures from a digital camera to the computer. Cost maybe $20. I see no reason you couldn't copy the data from the card to your computer/CD/...unless the data on the card is copy protected somehow, which wouldn't surprise me.

Please let us know what you find out.
