Mental Gymnastics

New to me '04 E250. Read all the posts and wiring diagrams and my head is about to explode. Pretty damn handy but never been an electrical person...to say the least.

Battery is dead.
Can you explain the mystery switch? (see attached)
Can you explain the white box just below it?
The first pic is looking straight down adjacent to the switch of a 45amp Power Source charger.
There is a house battery in the same compartment way off to the left.

Van is now on a trickle charger...or should I plug into the house?

Thanks all.
ps- can you just come over?!

Mental Gymnastics

Just a guess but the white box looks like a propane sensor or something like it and the switch turns it on and off.

Re: Mental Gymnastics

White box is a propane sensor. 98% sure.

The switch is on or off. Follow the wires, one will come from power, one will go to something. That something goes on or off...

edit: yup, the propane detector as larrie said. 3 red wires at the two items, only one coming from the loom...
green light should go on or off, if not check power at switch terminal (the red wire from the loom should be 12v+)

Re: Mental Gymnastics

Detector. Okay. It just seems like it runs awfully large wires for it to be just a detector. As far as the switch, I was just hoping it was a common set up for RB11's and twelve people would chime in with the answer. I tried to follow the wires...they just disappear behind the cabinets and are never seen or heard from again. Like I mentioned- not an electrical guy.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Mental Gymnastics

Your handle says you are in So Cal
To end the frustration i would visit
Ricks Trailer Supply in San Clemente
(yes a drive maybe, but how many hours do you have trying to figure it out?)

Paul, one of the techs could figure that out in a heart beat
prob not charge you as they want your future business
Also paul could spot potential problems easy to fix that would leave you
dead in the water when in BFE

They have done several on the spot repairs for me
at N/C for future business

they rewired my westy charger/solar/fridge/battery switch
made it look real clean in under an hour....

YMMV

Re: Mental Gymnastics

Sounds promising bw. Maybe you can tell me more about it today...as I'm the one going down to O-side. Ha! I'll shoot you a text when my day straightens out.

Re: Mental Gymnastics

My switch that looks like yours switches the radio on when the van is parked. SMBW said it switches the radio to the house battery but it does not.

Re: Mental Gymnastics

Hmmm. Thanks for the idea so I Just tried that...not the answer. Wish it was- I've been wondering why the stereo only runs off the starter battery. Why aren't these wired for the house? Maybe they are...on some crazy invisible switch somewhere.
