Re: Norcold is Nevercold -Refrigerator Threadfest

My hallway is 19" (cabinet doors on) and the fridge is 19 deep (door and trim off), so no futz'n with the cabinet in the future hopefully. The box is narrower, so will have to add two approx 1 1/4" fill strips along the inside side of the cabinet, but that should be it for cabinet mods. Ill take pics of the progress. Today its BBQ and party at our house, so I must shop for beer and clean up my shop for the festivities. Tomorrow should be good for installing the fridge.

Wanted to follow up on the Tundra fridge that I used to be so hot fer. As mentioned, Dometic bought Tundra and sells the fridge as it was before except for one major alteration, no service port!! Dometic, like Norcold, requires owners to purchase a complete cooling unit if the refrigerant ever needs recharging. As far as my research goes, Firtrifrigo is perhaps the only marine/RV fridge line that still comes with a recharge port on the R134 fridges (not talking about 3-way fridges). Although the Virtifrigo quality is higher than the Norcold fridges (Danfoss, etc.), it is hundreds less. Reportedly these are damn quiet too, but can't speak to that yet.

It is a step down voltage converter box on top of the fridge. The AC line feeds into the converter then the output goes to the 12V power input.
