Re: Onan generator, prosine 2.0 inverter/charger, & Starcool

Thanks. I'm curious because I'm thinking hard about the same set-up. Meanwhile, good luck. That must be very frustrating. - Rusty

Rusty, it's really not that bad because I have solar and the generator will power something that requires a lot of energy so I haven't been too pressed to take care of it. On the other hand its time to deal with it.

Re: Onan generator, prosine 2.0 inverter/charger, & Starcool

Update: The prosine inverter was pulled by a local RV service company( they have worked on other SMB) in New Mexico and sent to Xantrex. There results were pretty much what I expected having had some contact w/the folks at Xantrex. They sent the unit to Xantrex and when it came back and they bench tested it before installing it; it still didn't work. After talking to Xantrex and making no progress it was sent back again. Luckily(or not), I've been tied up working so it isn't that big a deal at this point. Depending on this final attempt w/Xantrex I'll have to decide whether or not to replace it with another brand or go without the inverter. This should be resolved soon and I'll post the results.

I don't think the original starcool(before the new danhard ac-although both made by danhard) was designed to work with an inverter.

The Starcool II requires about 3000 watts to operate. The new Danhard requires less but also works better to cool (from what I've been told) than the Starcool does without aid from the engine.
