Yes, that would be a good idea. I expect that wire has a 40 amp automotive style circuit breaker on it before it goes to the fuse panel. It might be a good time to replace that breaker, with a better breaker also.
Your Class T fuse holder probably has a set screw terminal attachment, instead of terminal studs. I am not sure what your existing size wiring is, but it might fit that terminal. Obviously, you could attach to the terminal stud for the fuse ( I generally like to keep that clean, for the sake of replacing in the future).
