If or when enough battery capacity can replace a generator (particularly the expensive and heavy diesel units), I can see it becoming a viable alternative/option. Roadtrek keeps trying it so the costs must be getting close to competitive.
For me replacing a generator means it would have to be able to run a small air conditioner at least 8 hours overnight. It would also have to charge off engine during day's drive.
