Re: Scangauge placement?

Just back from a long weekend during which I tried a some more scangauge placements. For me Greg's placement is the best. Found that by putting the scangauge on the top of the dash, like I had it before, it suffers from glare. Not so if placed where Greg has his on the front of the dash.

Also found out that my speedometer's accuracy starts to drift the faster I go when compared to the scangauge. That is if those radar equipped roadside "Your Speed Is" lighted displays are to be believed. I noticed they agreed with the scangauge while the speedometer does not.

It's also a hoot when you crest a mountain and your MPG suddenly goes from 7 or 8 to 9999 MPG.

Re: Scangauge placement?

I have mine where DUKCSUN's is mounted. I'm not happy with it. I have to take my eyes too far off the road to see it. It seemed like a good spot at the time since the cable could be easily concealed.

That's why I mount mine on the steering column. It's just under the speedometer. The cable tucks away easily into the dash. And, I can usually see the PRNDL over the Scangauge if I crane my neck slightly.

Re: Scangauge placement?

Mine is the same place as woodbee. I don't see it as an integral check necessary to driving- in fact, it hasn't been in the van for some time as I'm procrastinating upgrading it.

I was in the same boat, but before a long trip towing a heavy trailer, I thought it would be a really good idea to have the EOT vs. ECT.

I really like the mounting location above the charging port that others have utilized, but I have a red light there which shows when 4x4 is engaged. I am also not crazy about adding holes in the dash. Mine is just Velcro'd on top of my battery charging gauge. It has great visibility and the only thing it seems to block is the dang airbag light I can't seem to get to turn off.

Not that tidy and professional looking, but highly practical where safe monitoring is concerned:

1x1 aluminum L cut to 3" screwed to the plastic and attached the gauge with velcro.
