Re: ScanGaugeII trouble

You also might try plugging the whole deal into another car and see if it fires up. I plug mine into our BMW X3 sometimes and it works there with no issues. ScanGuage is pretty good about backing the product from my experience.

Re: ScanGaugeII trouble

Do you have another vehicle you could try it in? Then you'll know if you have to send it back or have an issue with the ODBII port. I'm suspecting power to the port.

Re: ScanGaugeII trouble

Glad to know mine isn't the only one that "forgets to come on" every once in a while. Luckily it's extremely easy to remedy (poke button).

One other weird thing I have noticed: Once in a while (say every 30th night) I'll see the SG on the dash light up for about twenty seconds, then go off. This is with the keys out of the ignition, and the start and house bank disconnected from each other. Always wondered why, although it seems to cause no problem (other than each time I think there is a ghost in the cab before I remember it's the SG). I guess it's something happening in the Ford/start battery loop.

I just noticed that this year on mine also. Didn't see it for the previous 5 years. Hmm...

Same here! Though I changed vehicles (97 E-250 to 98 E-350 so couldn't rule out that as a reason.

Re: ScanGaugeII trouble

i tested the Scanguage on my wifes Subaru Crosstrek and it worked fine.

Ill have to check and see if its just a fuse on my van or if theres something else going on with the wiring.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

Re: ScanGaugeII trouble

OBD port power is shared with one of the power points on the dash.

Yes---specifically Fuse #23, 20 amp located in the Central Junction Box or inside fuse box.
