Sierra Wireless cellular antennas

There's been a lot of discussion about Wilson antenna systems but I haven't seen any comments about Sierra Wireless, which seems cheaper. Any experience with them or thoughts about these units: http://www.antennagear.net/servlet/the- ... Categories?

Re: Sierra Wireless cellular antennas

Nice find. Looks like they are made by Wilson or who ever makes Wilson's.

Re: Sierra Wireless cellular antennas

Those look like they are only 3G they list a 4G hotspot in the text but say 2G-3G in the title? I clicked on the Verizon link and the same thing plus they had the Wilson 4G units and those were priced normally.

Re: Sierra Wireless cellular antennas

The Wilson guys told me that my mobile hot spot is 2,3, and 4G but the 4G amp won't help on a 2/3G signal. Up in the hills best I can find is 2 & 3G. Actually I bought the wrong amp I guess asking for the 4G amp.

Re: Sierra Wireless cellular antennas

Same here. Since we spend more time in country where 2G is common, 3G is a bonus and 4G/LTE is a fantasy, we're probably ok with the loss of high speed data.

This antenna is 4G/LTE but the salesperson says it works best in flat country, which isn't where we prefer to roam: http://www.antennagear.net/servlet/the- ... lar/Detail. It is also only an antenna where the other is the complete kit. OTOH, the 4G antenna is also 11dB.

Re: Sierra Wireless cellular antennas

I got a Wilson Sleek 4G-V and a prepaid Verizon 4G LTE mobile hotspot before our recent roadtrip. We followed US2 from the UP of Michigan over to Montana and then backtracked to US85 & US83 which we followed down to Texas and then over to Mississippi and back north to home in Michigan. It worked fantastically and I had 4G over about 90% of the trip. A few times when I wasn't getting 4G it did not seem to really work, I wasn't sure why but what you say about not doing 2G-3G may be why.

My business is online and I need to stay connected on vacation so I was super happy when I got a 4G LTE connection on my hotspot in areas where I couldn't even get 1 bar on my iPhone. Worth every dime to me.
