Does this help?

Re: Smallest generator?

The Honda is $$ BUT fairly quiet. I very much want quiet. Not sure of Yamaha Db rating but have thought is was similar to Honda. Honda is good but can still hear it even when we place out in the woods behind a tree 75 feet from the van. A light drone.....

Re: Smallest generator?

Would the presence or absence of a fuel pump affect reliability in cold weather? Or other conditions?

Yep. The numbers are good except they're measured at 7 meters. Would have to get a longer cord. :-)

Re: Smallest generator?

Just remember that doubling the distance from 7 m to 14 m will cut the decibel level in half. It even works in feet and inches.

Re: Smallest generator?

You also lose a lot in that extension cord.

Re: Smallest generator?

You can overcome some of the voltage drop with a long extension cord by using one with a heaver gauge wire. Expect to pay more for them.

Sound drop is linear? Are you mathematician enough to calculate half of 59dB? I'd be majorly impressed. My mathematics career tripped over logs.

Re: Smallest generator?

The further out it is the quieter and the less chance you'll notice it gone with all the genie thieves running around

Half of 59DB is 56DB. 3DB is twice the power. 10DB is 10 times the power. It is all logarithms.
