Solar cost/effort "without pre wire"

Hello all,
Seriously considering a 2004 PSD EB-50 and was wondering if anyone has added solar to their van without the "solar prewire" package. How difficult was this (DIY?) or how much did SMB charge to add to an existing van.
Thanks,
Josh

I just asked Peter DelToro at Sportsmobile the same question and he gave me the price of $1594 installed with 1 - 130W Kyocera panel.

Did that include mounting it up on the roof or ground setup? Did that include the charge controller as well?

I Believe so, as my email said installed, but I will clarify that now and report back. I'm gonna do it cause I dont want the Generator on 24/7...

Considering the cost of 'PreWire' and the solar panel, that is not a bad price.

The only thing I would change on our installation is the controller. A Blue Sky 2000 MPPT controller would generate more power into the battery with the same amount of sun. Ask if you can get that controller.

Thanks for the info fellars! That price actually doesn't seem too bad with the exception i'm 850 miles from Fresno. Doh!

Re: Solar cost/effort "without pre wire"

I did the drive last year from Denver to Fresno over a week to have the solar added and it was a fantastic trip. They did the install in a day while we took a side trip in a rental car to see the Sequoias.
