Solar trickle charger for 2 starter batteries

hi all, i'm a proud owner of a new to me 2004 Ford E350 6.0L. i'm replacing the starter batteries (it has two of them) and would like to install a trickle charger to keep them healthy. i'm replacing these myself and i think doing this once will be enough for me for awhile.

there are a couple options i'm considering:

1. the van would sit in my driveway in las vegas with the windshield facing south, plenty of sun all year, so a smaller solar charger that sits in the windshield and plugs into the cigarette lighter. easy and simple. would it actually trickle charge both batteries i.e distribute the charge to both simultaneously? not exactly sure how this would work. this is the one i'm thinking off

Solar trickle charger

2. i'll keep the van plugged into shore power from the garage. it already has two panels on the roof so the 200 amphour battery will stay fully charged. should i rig something from the house battery to trickle charge the 2 starter batteries?

option 1 seems to be the simplest solution.

thanks for any help!

david
