Starting a rope pull generator with your foot

Since there is a lot of talk here about generators I thought others might find this Instructables project of interest. It's a home-made rig for starting a rope pull generator with your foot.

Step-n-Start - A Motor Pull-Starting Assist for Those that Need a Little Help

I have to agree with many of the comments people posted on that site, namely that as ingenious as the mechanism is, it's even better to see an adult teach their child to safely and properly use tools. That's a life skill never learned by many kids.

so happy to see that today.

do stuff with your kids.

for all of the modern distractions kids seem to gravitate towards, balancing it out with activities like this is so critical.

a few hours a week doing stuff like this can only be beneficial.

Cool Idea glad I don't need something like that, yet.

I agree on the kids thing even though we do not have any its always good to teach kids how to do things. People on the forum help others (thanks) with their posts, its nice to share knowledge with otheres.

WVvan is this guy a friend or relative of yours? Looks like something you would invent and post.

Re: Starting a rope pull generator with your foot

Kind of reminds me of a guy at work. He was trying to pull start a 3000 watt generator on one of the trucks...man was he mad. I asked him if he was having trouble. He says " I hate this m@%!^ F*%#ing piece of $#!%. I said why don't you just start it. He yelled "I'm trying!" So I reached over and turned the key to start the generator. As it cranked over, he gave me a dirty look and all he said was "ALL these years"

Thanks for the kind words Ultrasport but no relation. Just something I spotted on the Instructables site. That's a great place if you're are DIY'er. Full of neat ideas.
