Toaster

I have an 07 SMB deisel , it has all the bells & whistles ,including a 2000watt trip-lite inverter , does anyone know if a small toaster can be run off this system ?

Yup, IF your toaster is less then 2000 watts. Look on the bottom of it and it should say. Other problem is your house batteries. They won't take much of that kind of a load. If you want to use something that draws that much power you best have a generator or be plugged into shore power.
Otherwise toast your muffins over an open flame....

We don't have a traditional toaster, but we use a small George Forman grill to make toast all the time.

Battery is your limitation, and my little toaster (1300W) kills them. I've got two 4D batteries, or 400 amp hours just to support the toaster. Since one of them is bad, and I've had to disconnect it, I've been foregoing the use of the toaster as one 4D (200 a/h) is not enough IMHO to bounce back from toast twice a day.

We have 2 batteries and the 2000 watt inverter also. If it's cool out in the morning, I usually just start the engine (V10) for a few minutes to warm up the van and toast my bagel before I shut the van off. We usually drive somewhere during the day anyway and that seems to be enought to charge the batteries. Seems like a few hours of the flourescent lights at night along with the fridge takes the batteries down as much as a few minutes on the toaster.

We have 2 batteries also and when toasting with the GF grill the batteries do not take much of a hit. I know it is not the same as areal toaster, but with spray butter it does a pretty good job.

I basically have the same 2 battery-inverter setup. Anything with a heating element will eat up your batteries pretty quick. I carry my Honda 2000 watt generator if I am staying put for a few days without driving. If I charge the batteries daily for 1-2 hours,I can use the toaster, electric fry pan, microwave, fridge and watch tv on satellite on the batteries for 1 day. I plug directly into the generator in the morning to make coffee use toaster etc. (I have no propane onboard) After a few trips you learn to manage your batteries pretty well. I have tried running the engine on idle for an hour or so and it also helps but not nearly as well as the generator. If you are driving for 3 or so hours that seems to be enough to charge up the batteries. I rarely let my batteries go below 12.2 volts.

While not exactly, or even remotely, a toaster, I just picked up one of these. Can't wait to try it over an open fire.
