UPG Deep Cycle Batteries

Anyone have any experience with Universal Power Group (UPG) deep cycle AGM 4D batteries in their rigs, specifically the "UB4D"? They seem to be a bit odd-shaped (20"x8" @ 120lbs!), but since my current setup allows for some improvement and massaging, I could potentially make these work.

does UPS actually deliver a 125lb box?

Re: UPG Deep Cycle Batteries

I know of a few who have had bad luck with Universal but like several companies, they probably have high and low end models. You only hear about the bad and FWIW SMB was or still is using them. I talked with a battery guy down south that claimed they were low end but he's selling a different product...go figure. In the end his statement that seem to stick with me was you get what you pay for. At the other end I've never heard anybody complain about Deka or Lifeline other than how much they cost. I was talking to an engineer who said you're paying for quality lead which helps the battery's longevity. Poor charging habits will kill the best of them so I would figure if the price was right and you can get 4 years out of them for half the cost it might be worth looking into.

Yes, up to 150# for UPS and FedEx before it is considered Freight, and we (FedEx) deliver stuff that weighs thousands of pounds, it's just a more expensive and slower service.

Re: UPG Deep Cycle Batteries

I'm guessing no one has any experience with Autocraft marine batteries from Advance Auto Parts which cost $124, minus the $40 coupon code I posted in the General forum ; )
