Re: Upgrade Headlight Bulb in 2000 E350 ?

What type headlight do you have in your van? Is it one of the plastic housing headlight units? Or do you have the 200mm rectangle glass ones?

+1 on madscience's comment. Headlights are designed to work as a 3 piece unit. If you only replace the bulb with a hid bulb the reflector and the lens will not put the light where you need it. If you do decide to go that way stay out of the kelvin range that emits a blue light. Your eyes will thank you for it. They may look brighter but your eyes are designed to see things better in the lower white to yellow spectrum. If you do go blue watch out for truck drivers with anger issues they may be tempted to huck golf balls out in front of you.

Did I mention that little cars with blue light spraying all over the place and fart can mufflers tend to put the angry sleep deprived night driver behind the wheel of my work truck.

X 100 John! I don't know why LE is not pulling people over for those. I can handle the stock lights that have a slight blue tint at specific angles but those vivid blue lights blind me. I wonder if they have a high low setting cause I throw my highs on if anybody is driving towards me with em and they never go higher or lower with theirs.

Re: Upgrade Headlight Bulb in 2000 E350 ?

thanks everyone for assistance.

My van is at Ujoint getting the 4x4 plus doing a cummins conversion

Chris at Ujoint has been so willing to assist in "upgrades" not related to his specific work
I brought it in for.

Chris just reported that they are glass sealed beams.

Is there a best suggestion for Glass Sealed Beams as I value the input from the Forum.

thank you in advance

From a different thread:

I use the Hellas in my Jeep with a 130/90w bulb. The light pattern is the best out there and if adjusted right puts all the light on the ground, not into oncoming traffic.

Re: Upgrade Headlight Bulb in 2000 E350 ?

I was too lazy to post the details when I did it, but I upgraded my van to Cibie eCode H4 headlights. I had to add the side surrounds for the down-level (non aero) headlamps, and also switch to the matching headlight support plastic panel. Works great, HUGE improvement. While I was there I upgraded the wiring and added relays.

Just don't waste any time with the stock aero headlights.

Re: Upgrade Headlight Bulb in 2000 E350 ?

Thanks to all who replied.

I ended up taking the advice and contacting HIghperformancebulbs.com.

since I have the sealed beams I needed to buy a Pilot Automotive 6054 Sealed Beam Headlight Conversion Kit Part cost was $59.99 for both

Then I bought the H4 Bi-Xenon HID conversion kit with the 4300 Bulb color for $100 ish.
also bought a Battery Harness Free connection upgrade to make it easier to install.

Total cost was appros $160 for everything. Thank you all once again for showing me the LIGHT>
