I have the solution. It involves removing item and throwing it as far away from you as possible, preferrably over a cliff or in to some water.

If you need a device to help keep your fridge closed they make latches/pins specifically for that.

If you need help remembering to actually close it then you may need more help than just that. I do not think the systems of a camper van/rv are going to go well for you.

Sidenote, I just discovered this weekend that my Dometic CFX has an interesting feature. Apparently if you leave the cover open too long, the compartment light starts flashing to alert you. Worked, too--my wife got distracted while putting things in the fridge, and I saw the flashing light in my peripheral vision.
