Xantrex - lights out

The day after returning from a 3 week trip through Colo, Utah and Nevada, I plugged into shore power and noticed that I have no indicator lights lit on the Xantrex power controller panel. The unit seems to be operating - I get charging voltage on the standalone indicator (13.9V) and 110 power at the outlets. However, with shore power removed, I get no 110 from the inverter and still no indicator lights on the panel.

Does anyone have an idea where I should look first? Where are the fuses for the unit located?

Re: Xantrex - lights out

Try to re-start via the power switch on the inverter itself. Also I had a similar problem and it was with the remote...had to get a new one. I still wonder if it was the RS-232 cable. Try to plug and unplug it at both ends. Sometimes those connectors get corroded. Make sure it (the cable) didn't get broke or pinched. Just guesing here!

Good luck.

Re: Xantrex - lights out

I had the same problem, and didn't know before that the Xantrex had a power button and lights on the unit itself.

I found a photo of my inverter so I knew where to feel for the power button as in my build you cannot see anything on the control panel side.

Re: Xantrex - lights out

Problem solved - thanks for the help.

Dave hit it with his 'give it good shake and try it again' method.

I didn't even know where the charger / inverter was. I just assumed the guts of it were behind the panel. I pulled the panel and found it only weights about an ounce with a flat 'phone type' cable plugged in the back. I followed the cable back and found the main works behind the bench seat near the right rear wheel. Very educational and after cycling the main switch and re-plugging the cable everything worked. It's good to know what to shake the next time it goes out.
