Fiamma Replacement Awning Fabric?

Hi guys - We've got a 2006 Sprinter high top Sportsmobile with a 13' Fiamma F45 that has highly degraded / delam'ed fabric.

Fiamma support tells us the model is obsolete, and our only option, other than full replacement, is to get the fabric from their current model, and trim it down to fit width-wise.

Questions:
1 - Has anyone replaced the fabric in a Fiamma? Is it tough - any gotchas?
2 - Any experience cutting the fabric to fit - kind of assume if they are recommending it, it's fine, but would be an expensive experiment at ~$400 with shipping.

Thanks!
