Re: North Shore Bike Racks?

Interesting design but the mtb only part kills it for me. I have an odd selection of bikes & this rack would only fit a few of them. My last hitch rack was a Sportworks model. Thule bought them out & now offer virtually the same rack as the one I had as the T2 hitch rack. That was a great rack for me. Bikes loaded in seconds & the rack didn't touch the paint, the rack was solid & never swayed or vibrated & the rack folded up when not in use & down with bikes loaded so you could access the rear of the vehicle.

If I were in the market for a hitch rack today I'd likely pick up the T2. My rack was older & didn't fit 29er wheels but the T2 does. I believe it will fit down to a 20" wheel so it will fit most bikes. My 16" wheeled folder wouldn't fit on it but it folds so it goes inside.

Re: North Shore Bike Racks?

We got a Thule Revolver 4, generally carry two bikes, but we've had 4 on there no problem.

With a 10-12" hitch extension it clears all the Aluminess stuff I have and swings out of the way. It's all horizontal so easy to swing, even fully loaded.

As a bonus it's useable on all the vehicles (well once we put a hitch on the Volvo...) so it doubles for our "town" bike carrier.

There are a few downsides, nothing that would make me hesitate to replace it instantly:
1. To lock it it's a screw in T handle. Someday I'll replace with a nice tension clasp or something. Minor inconvenience.
2. The locking hitch pin is a bolt in deal, and it's not possible to use a regular hitch pin. Quickly fixed with a drill, but you can't go back. Only annoying because I take it off and on all the time, switch vehicles etc.
3. The built in lock (matching key to bolt-in-pin lock) is a bit short for different bike frames, and doesn't lock any of the wheels.
4. Doesn't fit my trike. Then again, nothing does.

Regardless of these minor things, it's excellent.
