From the Sportsmobile website: Sportsmobile Custom Camper Vans - Sprinter Penthouse Top

"Is is OK to stand on the top?
Yes! Up to a dozen or so people."

With regard to how much the top can lift:

"Note: Maximum top load including a top rack is 200 pounds"

From an email to me from Aluminess, April 2016 regarding approximate weights for their roof racks:

Rack with Open Crossbars - 67.7 lbs
Rack with Slats - 104.9
Rack with Tread Plate - 167.1
Rack with Tight Slats - 132.1
Rack with Perforated - 122.8

Hope this is helpful.

Otter very helpful, thanks.Am looking at the perforated, and did also check the SMB website for load limits and it does say 200 max and then further down it mentioned that it was ok to have upto 12 people on top.
Obviously that seems a little excessive and I would be happy with 2 sitting on top.
