Re: Propane vs Diesel Furnace

I havn't had it in extreme temps yet but expect it to be more than adequit especially with sleeping bag or bedding. I really don't know yet. Their is a bigger one than mine available.
Yes I have used catalytic heater in RV's for years ( must have proper ventilation) and I do not mean the Buddy. I mean Olympic because it is not open flame. I have found that anything but the smallest one puts out too much heat. I hate the noise off and on of the Suburban forced air in RV's and the Olymbic runs all the time. Yes I did have a low pressure line ran to the inside and comes out above the counter and has a quick disconnect.
The BBQ fitting is on the passenger side and is hidden. It also is a quick disconnect.
I'm low tech and don't have time to fiqure out pictures but I'm talking simple T's before and after the regulator in the propane box. (driver side). RD

Re: Propane vs Diesel Furnace

I ordered the van as indicated above with three heating possibilities because I didn't know too much about the Propex. I have slept in the van only two nights with it on and it wasn't real cold so it didn't cycle much. It is definitely quieter than the suburbans I had. RD

Re: Propane vs Diesel Furnace

Since activity in this topic, which I started as a newbee to the SMB Forum, appears trailing off, it is time to thank everyone for answering so many of my questions. I hope with all the new info now at hand I can make the right decisions about a furnace before that stalls the ongoing build. This forum is GREAT!

Re: Propane vs Diesel Furnace

Reviving an old thread cause im trying to decide which way to go for a furnace... im suprised that nobody had mentioned the possibility of flexibility of use of alternative fuels for the diesel heaters, am I wrong that kerosene and different diesel fuels wouldn't work for each and every diesel heater? I know that the dickinson diesel boat heaters have that kind of flexibility.... anyone have an opinion on the Dickinson?
