SMB Custom Floorplan - Flooring Charge?

We are doing a custom floorplan for our SMB Ford RB, not a modified layout. However, it is relatively simple and is similar to other standard plans (with a gaucho/aisle).

I noticed last night that our price sheet had under Exchange, the Marine Vinyl Brown Color Scheme. It has a charge of $1,105. I contacted SMB as I thought the Marine Deck Vinyl was $136 option. Here is their reply:

Quote:
Normally there is a $136.00 upgrade charge to go with the marine vinyl if you chose a pre designed floor plan, for example the RB-50. The price of the wood sub floor and pad plus labor are built into the package price. When going with a custom layout we have to price out the complete floor install.
Have others experienced this? This is by no means a deal breaker for us, I just wanted to clarify that this is "normal" under these circumstances. Thanks.

I was confused, too. The online info says that Marine vinyl is a cost upgrade. When I ordered, they said it was standard (perhaps because I ordered a fully equipped 4x4 setup?). Anyway, I didn't like that flooring surface and paid for the upgrade to the flooring with the small smooth circles. I imagine that some detail options may be stated differently by different salespeople.

Thanks for the reply Jeffrey. I guess my post was a bit premature. I
just received an email from SMB which I copied below. I do not know
if it was a mistake or if they are just being kind. Regardless, I'm
still incredibly happy with the entire process so far.

I have adjusted the price of your flooring install to $136.00.
Generally I do not like the idea of charging full price for this
flooring install so I discussed it further with my sales manager and
he gave me the ok to do this. I'm very sorry for the confusion. I
have also noticed that with the XL storage, propane and AGM 4D
battery we do not have any space to install a grey water holding tank
however we can do a clear line drain from the sink to below the van.
If this is a huge issue please let me know and I will investigate the
option of installing the GW tank inside the van possibly under the
galley. Keep in mind doing this will decrease interior storage.
Now I have to figure out if we really want/need a grey water holding
tank or not. An option I am some what considering is switching the
Espar furnace and flat plate water heater and getting rid of the
propane all together. However, I guess this is a separate topic if
needed .

for what it's worth, my van is somewhat crowded for space with regards to water storage. I have a black water tank in the rear under one dinette couch, and a grey water tank under the other couch.

If I would have thought of it way back when I might have had them put the two tanks where the underfloor storage is and recovered storage space inside the dinette benches, as I won't have but a 17" wide opening to get to the expanded storage anyway.

Of course, then I'd have to deal with water tanks outside freezing...
