Thank you for the new forum and the Sketchup models! I've been inspired to learn Sketchup now, and it's looking to be an awesome tool for visualizing and designing my DYO interior. I'll share my models when they're done.

If you come up with a good method for learning, let me know. I've done everything from Autocad to Povray and I seem to struggle with sketchup. Seems like it should be really easy, or I'm missing something... maybe I need this Google Sketchup 8 for Dummies.

I taught myself using the online tutorials. Back then, Sketchup was a small company from Colorado called @last software. "@last" because with it there was finally an easy alternative to 3D modeling compared to AutoCAD. When Google gobbled them up years ago I was always afraid they would trash Sketchup but they didn't.

Anyway, take a rainy day and try the tutorials. After a day of practice you will be an expert.

I hope to practice up on Sketchup also.
Looks to be a time consumer, but the tutorials look helpful.

This could put a lot of good ideas into use.

I have one I'd like see come to life.

This is a great section for those that want to get an idea on the designs.
Surprised SMB doesn't offer this on their site. Oh that's right they have the

Their (sportsmobile) little layout tool is pretty phenomenal. They went from paper cutouts to that, so really all they need to do is take it to 3D and they'd be way ahead of us hacking away at Sketchup (in terms of user friendly).
