SMB Pricing, Van Sourcing

We have made one factory visit to SMB Texas, firmed up our design and will be eventually replacing our '08 Sprinter SMB with a new one. Does Sportsmobile stick to their MSRP or do most units get some discount? Is there an advantage to supplying them with a new Sprinter van or let them get it? We have researched the Sprinter options, talked to Mercedes and Freightliner dealers, and have some strong preferences for specific factory options.

I wouldn’t think smb would try very hard to get you a good price. I would buy exactly the van you want and take it to them. They’re a business so any discount they get on the van might just stay with them. They have a line out the door for vans, so they will try to accommodate but I don’t think they’ll try that hard.

When I was SMB shopping years ago, and we were contemplating both new and used, SMBw actually offered very competitive new van prices.

When shopping around in 2016 to buy a new Sprinter for a SMBW build, I eventually specified and ordered the van directly through SMBW (indirectly MB Fresno). Pricing for the new van was very competitive and all dealer discounts were passed along to me (MB incentives, fleet pricing). Van was delivered directly to SMBW and stored in their lot until my build date came up. Overall a good experience.

Do what the best buyers do...pit one seller against the other (lol)....get your SMB price, then take that price and go to local dealer or one in a big city close to you (bigger population the better) and say, "What can you do?" or vice-versa...You get all the benefits while blaming the "other" dealer for undercutting/getting YOU THE BEST DEAL! Its a win-win...I have even said (I do this for vehicles we buy), "My brother-in-law sells these things, but I can't stand the guy, please beat his price!" You can go back and forth too...worst case scenario is you won't get a dealer to call you back (SMB won't loose your business either way), best case is you save thousands! Good luck tell us how you did!
