Re: SMB West build and SMB Austin Pickup - anyone done this?
It may be best to do the Austin Pick up based on what I was told by a car dealership when I wanted to do something similar. Regarding the payment of sales tax in CA for cars bought in the State.
I am not an expert and merely mentioning what was told me when I almost bought a car
from a CA dealership. In my case, I wanted to avoid the CA sales tax seeing that the car was going to be driven and owned in another state. Galpin Ford was the CA dealership and they had the particular model I was going to buy, but they ended up selling it for much more than the sticker price so I did not go through with the buy.
I was told that the only way for me to not pay sales tax in CA with the purchase was to actually have it shipped from the dealership property to my State. Having it driven to my destination was not an option and would have triggered the sales tax being paid. I was told that the car would have had to been loaded on the transport at their location.
Once again, i did not end up getting the car so do not know if they were being truthful or not.
I simply wanted to pass this on for what it worth.
It seems with the price of gas nowadays it may make sense to transport your vehicle. I do know that SMB has a special Transport company they use and recommend for their vehicles.
I don't know if they have enclosed transport as that is most likely what you would be wanting given how special your vehicle is sure to be.
Congrats on your new ride to be. Have fun and enjoy it. Well done !!!
