Thanks. That's the entire weight of the rack. It will hold PLENTY, well over 1000 lbs (more than you would ever drive with). I am up there all the time with the kids jumping around. That of course is in the down position on the roof. I have two Thule cargo bags that I use for storage of gear en route (up to 30 cubic feet of storage space) that once empty, create a nice padded surface, and when combined with some beach chairs, make a nice upper deck. For warranty reasons, Errrr… I would never have more than the stated amount of stuff (I think the stated limit is 150lbs… including the rack) on the roof in the up position.... but I have seen another 2009 SMB in Dallas that looks just like mine with a good 250 lbs up there no problem ..... my personal rule of thumb now is that if you don’t think you can/should raise the roof with it up top, then you probably should not drive with it up top on the freeway (long haul).
